Workshop Conductor

Francesco Grassini was born in Siena (Italy) where he studied trombone. He then moved to Geneva's "Haute Ecole de Musique" to get a Prize of Viruosity, a M.A. in Music Pedagogy and a B.A in Orchestral Training.

A 360° musician, he now follows several careers simultaneously.

Starting as a trombone teacher in several music schools of Geneva, he was naturally attracted by conducting and became Director of two wind music schools and their respective orchestras.

As a trombone player he collaborates with Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Lausanne's Sinfonietta and Geneva's Ensemble Contrechamps, participating in music tours to Spain, Germany and China.

After conducting two local amateur wind orchestras, he participated in the foundation of the semi-professional Orchestre d’Harmonie du Pays de Gex (OHPG) which he has been conducting since 2011. He has followed masterclasses with Jean Claude Kolly, who chose him as his assistant at Fribourg's Concordia, but also abroad with Douglas Bostock, Philippe Bach, Pascual Vilaplana and Rafa Agullo.

Since 2022, Francesco Grassini has replaced Matthieu Mantanus, co-founder of the Musicando Academy, as Conductor of the Italian workshop.
